I need a set of trunk lid torsion bars for my '66 Skylark GS Hardtop. Anyone have a set they would like to part with or know of someone reproducing them? Tried searching on the net, but with no luck. Thanks.
Johnny, I have to look like a dummy here but what is the trunk torsion bars? I have the 66 Special I can take them off of!! If they are the same?? Todd
Don't feel bad Todd, I didn't know they existed either until about a week ago. They are what makes your trunk lid pop up and then stay up when you raise it. If you open the trunk, look back up under the rear deck of the car and you will see two bars running back and forth to the trunk lid hinges. I never really thought about how a trunk lid stays open until I found out the one on my car won't. I have to prop it open. It's not very safe either, I already knocked the prop loose once moving the spare. The lid almost clocked me right in the head, but luckily I was faster. The Special is a 4-Door right? I think the trunk or deck lid is the same on the 2 Door and 4 Door. If so then it should work. I'll ask Don, he should know if it will work or not.
