I have found a quarter panel for a 66 Skylark. As you all know good useable ones are few and far between. Just wondering if anyone had ever purchased and shipped a 66-67 full quarter? And if so what it cost to ship it? What distance was it? Its a full 2dr HT quarter plus alittle extra skin all around. If this is not the correct place for this thread could the mod please move it to the appropriate one.

    Thanks,
    Todd

I shipped a FRONT fender of a '67 for about $200 through UPS one time , it was just under thier overall size limit. I would bet the full 1/4 is too big.

You might try Greyhound freight, that seems to be what most people recommend.
I had a terrible time with them showing up when they're were supposed to be open but they closed for what I suspect was a football game. You also have to drop it off/pick it up at one of thier locations.

you other option, is to see if any board members are travelling from point A to point B at some point.

I've looked at greyhound shipping but I am guessing at what I think a quarter and crate would weigh. If I used the max of 100lb weight and used 74"L x 40"Wx 10"D(guessing measurement crated) the quote was $135. Which I love that price for shipping something that large. It's the weight I am guessing would get me close to or above the max weight allowable. Would any of you ship a quarter just wrapped in bubble wrap and then cardboard?

We need a Transportation section added so that when a member wants to ship or have another member deliver something for them we could post transportation needs or trips taken there to help out other members with shipping items. Moderators is this possible????

FYI Heres a few qoutes a friend got for me. They get discounted rates from shippers because they are do alot of shipping. Rates not as bad as I thought they would be. I was expecting $300-400.

Five or six years ago I bought a NOS 1965 Sport Wagon quarter panel on Ebay and the seller sent it to me via a freight truck. All he did was tape the required paper work on the quarter panel and give it to the freight company. I'm not sure I recommend that way of shipping because when the freight truck arrived the panel was just laying with lots of other large items in the back of the truck, but it arrived without any damage.
