66 Wildcat center link

The center link on my Wildcat is shot, and I'm trying to find a replacement for it. "Rare Parts" seems to be one of the few sources that will list one for this year (that's the picture included), coming up with parts number 26881, which I can't find anywhere else. Then there's also one source on ebay that will rebuild it for you for $260: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Aren't there some local shops that could rebuild something like this if you handed the old link over to them? Are the end pieces sort of unique for this year/model? What kind of shop should I be looking for to do something like this? The info I've found on the board has been for 67+ stuff (DS785, 25836), it seems to get tricky once you're in the 66 range.

Any other parts number to look for than 26881 which doesn't show up anywhere else but on the rare parts page?

    Any help is most appreciated.

I think the $150 goes back and forth, and at the end it's $367.

It can't be too hard to rebuild that thing for a shop that deals with this kind of stuff, but I just can't think of who would do it? Alignment and suspension shops maybe? Or do they just order new stuff all the time?

I'll quote the line from the 1970's movie 'Used Cars'.......
    'That's too f'in much!'

I'd suggest looking in Hemmings.... lot's of resto-shops that deal in custom solutions for old cars.

The center link has been obtained..

Now I'm after inner tie rods, and an idler arm (or two:puzzled: )

The question is, which one is it?

18628 seems to be for the manual cars:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

    Maybe this one: K-5174
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUIC...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
    , same as this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/66-B....c0.m245&_trkparms=72:543|65:12|39:1|240:1318

    Or 18660:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Idle...m14&_trkparms=72:317|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

    :Dou:  :Comp:

Any help is as always welcome!

Have you checked out kanter.com they have a center link for $280.00. They had all the hard to find front suspension stuff for my 67 Cat. Happy hunting.

"Jacksons Oldtime Parts" may have steering parts for your Cat and other models as well.
