Well, it just so happens I am going to that area for work. I called and left a message. If all goes well, and it isn't sold, I will be there to (hopefully) take her home. Sal
Dime a dozen? Now that I'm back home just looked up the production numbers. There were 431 4spd GS400 Converts made. Yeah. 431 made, they're growing on trees. Especially matching numbers ones 38 years later. For $2K. Real similar to my rust bucket 71GS 455 4spd Convert matching # car I got three years ago for $3K that 18 were made. These opportunities only show up once in a great while.
It probably needs a frame due to rust. That isn't so scarey. Frames are a dime a dozen. LOL The hood, grille, emblems, 401 that "runs strong", and complete 4spd set up have to be worth close to $2K by themselves, then throw in all the other parts. Overall, the pic seems to show the car's in relatively good shape. If the interior parts are too it looks like a bargain to me. Trunk and floor pans will be a major question mark for restoration cost on something like this. If they're shot, it's like starting over like my '71GS and may not be worth it. But I'd still guess it's worth more than $2K no matter how you look at it.
If someone from the left coast is interested, I have a frame if the sportwagon and convertible frames are the same. Seems the wheel base on GS and the wagon are the same. Mike
Well, I called a couple of times and just got a machine. I left my toll free number at work my home number and just about everything else. I have yet to get a call back. The wife even gave me the go ahead which makes this all the worse. Who knows either someone else got it or they are not really that interested in selling it....at least to me?!?!?! If I hear anything you guys will be the first to know. Sal
I dont know what the REAL deal is, but a lot of places will advertise a "bait" deal, to attract attention to the buisness. It 's been done before. "Well, that car sold, but I have a real nice GTO you might want to check out. ":Brow:
