No I do not see the pulley number you reference. Opps now I do. It is from a 75 H body Buick with a v6 engine. It appears to me that the factory pulley diameter, including your car from 68-70, was 5 5/8" and number on the pulley should be 1375146.

I am concerned about the position of your fan in relation to the shroud opening. For max low speed cooling efficiency, approximately one half of your fan should be in the shroud. Am I correct that only 1/4" of your fan penetrates your shroud? If so, you could have a mix of year model parts on your car that keeps the fan/shroud realtionship from being optimum.

this is getting interesting. my shroud is stock and correct. my fan which is 7 blade from a membert sits COMPLETELY in the shroud. in fact the fan to shroud exit is only 1/4 inch leaving the clutch 1.5 inches from the radiator face. the odd thing is that my belts all line up sp maybe i have a long pump where it needs to be short along with the wrong pulley. i am very interested in your thoughts, marty

How do i tell if i have the long pump. Also if i do get a short pump how much would that bring the fan out of the shroud and would that cause me to have an alignment problem .I thought all 70 electras had short pumps. do you know the measurements

Jim, i have come to a conclusion. I definitly incorrectly have long nose pump, all 70s 455s came short which explains why my fan is completely and incorrectly inside the proper 70 shroud. do you also beleive movinng the fan out so it sits 2/3 out of the shroud ( which the short nose will do)will reduce low end creep and since i would be buying a TA short nose and reg pump and see where im at, marty

If you put a short nose pump on your car and do nothoing else, will the rest and pulleys continue to be in allignment?

you know more than me but a member is sending me the proper pulley as on the car now is a deep 350 2 groove that shouldnt be there so i figure they should line up. well see i guess as im going to get a short nose and take the pulley and line it up before taking things apart, marty
