I'm looking for a working tach for my '67 GS400 console.

I have all the other parts, surrounds, lens and such, but my tach is in serious trouble and I just want a good working one.

    Thank you,

Hey Todd! . . . describe "SERIOUS TROUBLE"? is your working? or is it repairable? the REASON?
well...I have a few console tachometers... to help you out, I MAY BE willing to consider a partial trade mine for yours BUT yours MUST BE rebuildable?!? THAT...my friend, is why I ask. :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

    Hello Wheelz,

Here are some pics. the real issue is the two bolts that hold it onto the housing are sheared off. I was thinking about taping them or something like that to fix it. but I just don't have time.

Let me know what you think.

    Thank you!

wow Todd! That tach has seen better days, huh? From your pix, it appears that tach has rust issues around the armature windings anyway... so I dunno IF it is repairable or not.
Because of that, plus other issues, I just cant give you a whole lot towards a trade.
I have a tachometer that I have NOT tested yet... I believe it works, and will test it before we make any deal. If it works as it should, $285 securely boxed up, shipped & insured and you send me your parts tachometer as pictured. Thats the best I can do. Just let me know! :TU:

I know what you mean. The rust however is only on the outside of the winding housing. I'll hook it up and test is to see if it still works. The needle moves freely and smoothly by hand.
If it DOES work... maybe we can renegotiate? You have a reputation of a fair dealer and you've helped me out in the past and I also appreciate your help with this.

I'll let you know when I have tested it.

    Thank you

How do you get the clear face plate off? I see it was apart with the knob still attached. Just had my housing replated and want to clean the rest up.
I had it replated by M & P refinishing in Jeanette PA. $80.00
    Thanks

Hi Todd...have you tested your tach yet?

Not yet, as soon as I get the motor running in the car, I'll test it.
I recently sold my only other vehicle that I know how to hook up a tach too ('74 Chevy 1/2 ton).
My other two vehicles are distributorless.

    Thanks for the reminder, :TU:

Have you ever tried "JB Weld" the stuff is amazing and works for just about everything that needs repair.

Yes, I've used that stuff and it's amazing.
I forgot about it, I may try it, but I was thinking of taping out the bolts and then using smaller screws to hold it together. I'll look into more and reassess what I will do.

    Thank you,
