These are the only ones I'm aware of... Click Here Never seen one in person, nor have I heard from anyone who's purchased one. I've just seen the pics on that page.

Reasonably priced would be in the $250 range or lower. Reasonably priced would be in the $250 range or lower. Come on its only an air cleaner. Other than a few Buick experts nobody would notice a round chrome air cleaner was not correct. And thats only with the hood up. I am refusing to pay some of the crazy prices to make my GS correct for the few who will ever know.
I am refusing to pay some of the crazy prices to make my GS correct for the few who will ever know. spoken like a true Buick fan. hey, we are known to be rather tight fisted aren't we? dude, it's not about 'correct'. a repro cleaner wouldn't be 'correct' anyway. it's about having a cleaner that can't possibly be mistaken for ANYTHING else and looks exceptionally COOL. :bglasses:
I finally saw the aluminum air cleaner at Sema. Looked like a pos. I have a composite house that might be interested in a repro. Probably 20 piece min. And in the 300 range. Any interest?
A mint original star-wars breather with the knob and the metal base was for sale for nearly $700 on ebay a couple of years ago. I doubt it would bring anything near that in todays market. The hard part is finding one with all the original pieces. There are only one or two sources for the base unit and the knob, and neither of them is an exact reproduction of the original using the same materials. If you are lucky enough to find a complete unit in good shape that still needs some restoration, you could expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $275-$450, depending on how nice it is and how bad you want it. It would be nice to have an exact repro available, but I don't know how many of them would sell, even if you could get the price down into the $250 range. I thought the spring steel hood insulation strap I make for the 67 GS & Riviera GS would sell well, as there seemed to be alot of interest, and were almost impossible to find used. But over half of the first production run is still sitting in my basement, and there aren't too many buyers beating down my door looking for them. Don't get me wrong here. Alot of board members here bought them from me, and I am very grateful for that. But in any business venture, the reality doesn't always match expectations, and there is a big $$$ risk involved in making a complete star-wars breather assembly and trying to sell it in the open market. The guy that makes the aluminum reproduction unit that is sold an ebay (and elswhere) can probably tell you all about the pre-production expenses required to get the molds made for something with a shape that is as complex as this breather. I wonder if Buick figured out the same thing, and decided it was too expensive to produce after the 67 model year.
I don't suppose anyone has an idea where I can get my air cleaner fixed? One of the inlet openings is broken off. Also who offers the repro knob?
This is a thin wall, high visibility part. It doesnt lend itself to casting, as you can tell if you looked at the finished product. If there is no interest though, there is no interest. I already have a usable one. And of course, the more repro parts that are available, the more that ALL of our buicks will be worth. :TU:
