    Hi guys,

Well, I have just re-assembled my freshly restored bucket seats and the seat back release buttons don't seem to engage.

One of my seat's back is locked in place and the other seat back won't lock at all.

I have searched Google and this site for suggestions/tips, etc. and can't seem to come up with anything. I have the 1967 Body By Fisher Service Manual and it doesn't give much detail at all to the locking mechanism.

In case anyone is not familiar, the 67 buckets have the lock release button integrated into the side of the seat back.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hopefully, I am overlooking something obvious.

Ed, When I replaced the upholstery on my 67, I discovered that there is a spring that engages the lock on the seat back. If that spring is missing, the button will still feel ok because it has its own return spring, but the latch wont catch. I am pretty sure that the upholstery will have to be partially removed from the seat back to even check it.

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for your reply. Are you referring to the springs on the lock mechanism down by the seat hinge or do you mean up by the release button?
