    67 GS on eBay

Something doesn't look right? Maybe it's a few things...

    GS emblems on sail panel?
On the trunk moulding... should it say "340" after the "GS" ?
Is the "California" script in the right place?

If the emblems aren't in the right spots... there goes the "original paint" theory.

Just doesn't seem right... but I don't know much about the "California" edition.

I am no expert but I do believe that all of the emblems are in the correct location. I know the "GS" emblems were on the sail panels of the '68 GS California. I do not think "340" emblems were used.

I have to admit, it does look strange....

The sail panel "GS" is correct but the "California" script seems a bit high and forward. There were no "340" emblems on the California GS.

look at the beginning of the vin "434" which means its a special v8. not a skylark v8. which would be 44 or a gs which would be 46. the specials had what was essentially the gs grill, but without the gs symbol, just as this "california" does. it seems to me like they are passing off a 67 special as a california gs. :Dou:

The GS California was based on the Special body ( 2dr post) thus they share the same VIN. The GS script on the sail panel is unique to the GS California, so that's correct as well. Finally, the placement of the California script is exactly the same as in an original '67 newspaper ad. In '68 and '69 the California script is down next to the GS emblem, not so for '67.

Looks legit to me, but that's just my opinion.

Another thing to consider is this car still has both the original California scripts intact. The '67 script is not reproduced and they are VERY hard to find!!

    Hey Guys,

The car looks like the real thing to me. Everything looks to be in the right location. No 340 emblems on the 67 Cali. cars.

I looked through my road test collection and found a road test of a '67 GS California and it looks like the car on ebay has the emblems in all of the same places as the car in the photos of Car Life June 1967 (car had a 2.78 rear end gear and ran 16.7 @ 81 mph)

Maybe it's not a TRUE California. The emblems could've been added at a later date...in the wrong spot.

THat would explain the original paint.

Considering the '67 California GS was a dealer produced car, couldn't there be some variation in emblem height?

Here's a copy of the newspaper ad, the emblem sits higher than the road test picture. Looks very close to the emblem height of the ebay car to me.

Hey! Thats my car! I did not know there was a thread on it while it was on ebray. Its in the paint shop now and the engine is in my shop awaiting assembly. Those emblems were rechromed and look great. Not a clone- plus who would bother on a low value small block car?
