I found a nice grill for a car that I purchased but it has somecracks. I would like to know what kind of glue to use in the repair of the grill. I thought that I herd that PVC glue is what to use but do not want to try it untill I get the rite glue. Thanks for the help. 67 GS 400 Blue Mist 67 GS 400 Ivory 77 Grand Prix SJ Silver Thanks, Scott
Do Not Use PVC cement! Go to the hardware store and get some ABS cement (plumbing dept.) The grille is made of ABS and this stuff works! I'm currently working on two of these for mine.
JB weld is not that great of an idea, tried that on my first grille and now am trying to get the crap off. JB weld doesn't do near as good a job on the ABS, the ABS cement actually creates a chemical bond, while JB weld sits on top. JB weld doesn't sand near as easy ether. BTW this is all my opinion formed from practial experiences.
Worked fine for me. The repair was MUCH stronger than the surrounding plastic. Use what you will, I'm just pointing out alternatives.
I think i`m gonna have to agree with Jake on this one,i would`nt use JB weld either,go with the ABS cement. Thanks
Yes the JB weld is much stronger than the surrounding area but there is no real bond to the grille. Kinda like a plastic bandage.
I just fixed part of the grill and I must say that you people were rite on the money with the ABS glue. It seems to have done an outstanding job at gluing it back together. Thanks for all of the help!!! This is the reason that I love this site!! thanks, Scott
