I have run into a slight problem with the restoration of my 67 GS, we aren't sure what color paint to use on the interior. It's a triple aqua car but the information on interior colors is scarce, I found two close BOP(65-67) interior colors in the ditzler books but one is darker and the other is lighter than my interior pieces. Does anybody know what (names or number code)interior colors were an option in 67? The vinyl is Dark metallic turqouise/dark aqua/aqua depending upon the vendor. I would appreciate any input on this matter, Thank You.........Ryan
Ryan I thought the top of the doors inside were painted the same color as the interior. I woulld paint it the same color as the outside since it is a triple Aqua car.
Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Sorry Bill, i don't have any pics of the interior parts as they are all at the body shop. If you look in a OPGI catalog the vinyl color that would be correct for this interior would be the 67 Dark Aqua and the paint should be very close to this shade Ed, yes it is a triple aqua car but the interior is a darker shade of aqua/turqouise than the exterior. The paint sample books are pretty vague when it comes to interior colors, we thought we found the two aqua colors for 67 but when sprayed neither of them were close to my interior parts. It left both of us scratching our heads. I hate to have them do a prophet reading on the existing interior paint because it is over 40 years old and a surely a few shades off.
I do have paint chip charts from Dupont for 1965 and 1966. They are 10+ pages each and cover all GM lines. Includes interior chips as well. See if you can find one for 1967. Your best option may be to have a paint shop mix up some paint to match your door panels. They use a camera to take a pic, then use their software to develop a formula to match. Here's a 1966 color chart on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966...50246772194QQptZMotorsQ5fManualsQ5fLiterature I couldn't find a 1967 version of it.....
I wonder what the chance is that 66 and 67 used the same interior colors. The Dark turquoise semi gloss looks very close.
Here are some pics.....colors look much better than the scans::grin: Once again, from the 1966 charts.
In my experience the interior paint is close to exact, especially any that has been under a panel. You should be very close if your paint man can match the existing paint. - Bill
Thanks for the help Walt, I think that Dark Turquoise is probably the one. I'm going to pass that paint code along to the body shop and they can have their paint rep mix up a sample. If it looks close to what's sprayed on the dash and seat backs now I think I'll go with it. As Bill said the interior color is typically pretty close.
