I need to repaint the plastic portions of my 67 GS grille- ie the black honeycomb and the silver panels.

Do I need to use special plastic paint? Do I need to use primer or other special surface prep? Can anyone recommend a silver paint that is close to the original colour?

I appreciate any input from someone who may have done this before. I know very little about painting plastic and I really can't afford to mess this up!

    Thanks,
    Stu

    Stu,

The ABS plastic the grille is made from takes paint very well, you wont have the problems associated with most newer plastics. You can paint is just like any automotive surface.
    Sorry I don't have a paint code for a 67 grille.
Take your time and make sure you have a fresh roll of tape.

I re-sprayed my 67 Special grille using regular auto body paint after scuffing the original surface a bit with a Scotch-Brite pad. If you remove the nuts from the back, you can take off the chrome trim and save a lot of taping time. I thought they called the original color Argent Silver?
