I have this spring that came off the heater-AC system and can't remember where it goes. The factory manual is no help. The lightweight spring is approx. 8-9" long. First I thought it assisted the fresh air vacuum actuator close. But, that doesn't seem to be. Then I thought it might go somewhere inside the firewall on the heater linkages. I don't know. It seems I took pictures of everything else!! I am in the re-assembly phase of a full body off restoration. And it's been over a year since I took it apart. The spring was in the baggie with all the other heater-AC related components. So it must belong around there somewhere.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.......

So, I just tore apart my heater box on my '66 Skylark. The only spring I can really think of that fits that description IS the fresh air one. I could take some pics if you still have not come to a resolution on this, I realize this thread is a month or two old...

Thanks so much for your offer! A photo would be appreciated.
The spring I'm asking about is about 7-9" long on a factory AC box somewhere.......I think.

So, looking closely over everything, I can only really find two springs. One is on top of the airbox, only about 2 inches long. Seems to close the diverter door. The other is the fresh air door return spring, which I snapped a photo of. This photo is of the back side of the firewall side airbox. You're sure its not that one?
