I just noticed there was a post that mentioned this model- 1967 Woodward Avenue Special Stage 1 Did this model exist?
Carl it was 89-90 at the gs nats when one of these cars showed up. I beleive there were 7 of these cars built to do battle on Woodward avenue. Marco
I also remember reading about them in the GS X-Tra They were 'plain jane' bench seat skylarks fitted with a 'nasty' 400
I do remember vaguely when one of those cars showed up at the Nationals back then. The same thing goes for the article in the GSX-tra.I'll have to look through my GSX-tras to find it.
This is going back a few years but the car at the Nats was it white with Stage 1 emblems on the upper front of the fenders? I thought that car turned out to be a hoax. At first when the car showd up no one knew anything about it. After some research by I don't remember who, it turned out the car was just a GS that someone stuck the emblems on and did some motor modifications. I thought I remember reading this about 15 years ago. I could be getting confused with aother story.
I believe that there were factory back door "Woodward Avenue Specials" in 66. I don't believe that the term "Stage 1" was ever associated with them.
I am looking back, but sense I moved finding the right x-tra is taking some time. I did find a picture of Ed Mcann weber set up on his wife X's.
Taken from the 'Best of the GS-Xtra' 'Tips, Tricks, and Quick Takes - Vol 3' It states this article appeared in the Nov/Dec 1983 GS X-Tra Enjoy :TU: PS - Sorry for the poor quality - it's the best I could do in such short notice.
