Long shot but wth. If you don't ask...

Would consider a 4.30 set too or used (either ratio).

You should've grabbed that whole 8.2 with the trailering 3.91 ratio I sold to Steve. That was a GM gearset.
Maybe he'll sell it back to you?

I should've. I asked him. We'll see but in the meantime figured I'd post this.

    I have a complete 68-72 rear with 4.78 set-up, if interested.

Thanks! Even 4.30 is pushing the limits of what I'm trying to achieve. 3.91 would be optimal.

Curious though as to the rear's origins.

    Dan ,
I have a gear set (3.91 ) that I bought to use in the Sportwagon but went with a 12 bolt 4.10 setup .
GM #'s or casting # on the pinion is 1231470 (11) and the ring gear is 1382746 (43).
There is a part # in the parts book but only for 69 -70 and doesn't match either .
