Cars paid to have the molds made, probably overseas, and owns them. They are the sole reproducer of many buick parts.

As far as colors, there probably isn't enough people that need them to do it. It would be very expensive to do, as they would need to order thousands of sets for EACH color.
I understand the black mat sets were not as fast a mover as expected, so why would you do colors if black is hard to sell.

    Who is "cars"

Does "cars" have a website? I'm looking for black floor mats, original style. I really liked them and miss mine.

What do the CARS mats look like? Do they have the Buick crest like the originals? How much are they?

I have an NOS set of brown handy mats that I was planning on spraying black but if I could avoid doing that I would have a set of brown mats available.

Carpet savers are for the front, Handy mats are for the rear, just so that we are talking apples to apples.

I called CARS on the "rear" Handy Mats. They do only come in black and they are $85 a pair, the front mats are more. They currently do not have any in stock and they told me to call back in a month:Dou:

At BG they tod me it would be 6-9 months before they had them in stock again. I hope your info is correct. I need a set in a month or so.

    Jim,

My post (above yours) was made in March of 04, since then, I did sell my NOS brown mats and purchased a set of black handy mats (rear) from CARS. The quality is good and they look just like the originals :TU: I ordered and received them last summer so they must have run out of stock since then :Do No:

I will agree with that. I bought a complete set about 3 years ago for my 70 Skylark from CARS and they are nice.

Sometimes Factory-speak is merely annoying, but that is ridiculous!!!!

Anyhow, just to offer perspective, I have heard people who were very dissapointed in Cars's "floor mats."
I have never seen them first hand; just passing on semi-trustworthy second-hand opinion.

I am not a freak about this (like I am about some other things :) ), but the complaints I heard were reagrding the "crispness" of the trishield and the circle around it. They look pretty fuzzy
in the posted pictures, but that could certainly be a function of digital photography/resolution.

    Repro floor mats

I saw them at the CARS booth at the 2004 Nats, and didn't buy them. The originals had very white trishields and outer rings, but the CARS repro's were yellowish for some reason :Do No: . They just didn't look correct to me, but they may have been old or "show specials". If anyone else has purchased a set recently, let us know if yours appear yellow or white. Thanks.

The pair of handy mats that I bought from CARS last summer do have a slight yellow tint to the white tri-shield area, but not enough to bother me. I will have to hit them with some whitewall cleaner to see if it goes away.
