Need the rear roof section from a '68-'72 Skylark. Typical vinyl roof, destroyed my cars roof.
Looking for something in the Philadelphia area. I've already shipped a roof section once to find out it was junk and spent WAY too much in shipping. Had a guy I work with who said he "welds" try to put the roof together and made it ALOT worse. Very disheartening. Love my '69 Skylark, want to work on it and not junk it, but its getting worse every time I go to look at it. So hopefully somebody out there knows of a parts car with a NON-vinyl top roof that they want to part with. Thanks, always good results from this community.

    Christopher,
If its the actual roof panel itself you can buy them new. (70-72 Chevelle)

If its in the sides then you would need to piece it off a car or from a full repro 70-72 coupe panel.

If its along the bottom of the window then that panel is also reproduced.

I work out of Bensalem, I could come up and look at it, or you could post some pics.

there is a junk yard in york county that has several skylarks. i needed a roof for my 69 GS and found a couple that were decent but never got around to fixing it. the yard does not have a phone anymore but its Ed loukes yard in Glenville,pa. could check saturday if you are interested. Prices are usually decent.

If you could let me know or even get pictures (i know yards frown on it) Id appreciate it! York is only a. Ouple hours away so thats not unreasonable for a good rear roof and window surround. Thanks.

Awesome, Thanks very much. Here's a bit of what I'm up against. Believe me if I could get a convertible body and just swap it I would, but honestly I love the lines of my hardtop. Thanks again.

ACTUALLY Chris... from what I see, your 'welder" didnt do that bad of a job... MIND YOU, . .I am NOT standing THERE or crawling in, under and over to look at it real good, but me thinks some solid weld beads, a grinder and a thin coat of filler would prolly fix that mess easier than going thru cutting off another top and starting over...

Understand this is JM.02CW from viewing your pix.... nevertheless, it appears the hard steel repairs have been done to your car body aready... it looks like you now just need the filling 'n grinding, sculpting, sealing, primering and finishing up stuff... AND I myself, would love to take that challenge and perform the bodywork starting from its present condition... thats where the fun begins in my book! :Brow:

It looks like you need to finish welding the gaps on the right quarter and then grind it down.

I see the work that was done on the Tulip panel (under the rear window) but you would be better off cutting the outer skin panel off and installing a new repro panel.
You would have no filler in it and it would make for a much better job.

Mark Reeves from "Then & Now" sells them.

I was just there with the restification of my 72 suncoupe- The rear window rotted more than half way around. I cut my losses and replaced the entire rear filler panel. I got a deal on one from AMD on ebay and the results were excellent fitment. I did what you did and piece back together the lower corners and sides with surgical welding and grinding. Im all metal now in the back and need to finish the windshield which was in even worse shape, but again there is a repop panel for the lower windshield/dash area and again surgical welding and piece work for the rest. I have a complete used roof panel, but truthfully, it was less work putting in the repop panels and re fabricating the remaining rotted out areas. The extra hardtop roof panel i have had similar rust issues anyways. Im saving it for that eventuality of an idiot walking on the roof or a tree crashing down on it.
