I'm looking to purchase a '68 GS and I'm wondering which is the stock hood. I've seen some with the scoop up by the windshield and others with the "ram air" scoops in the middle of the hood with the matching air cleaner. Which was stock in '68, or was the "ram air" an option?
Im pretty sure 68 is near the windshield only And 69 is the ram air i am no expert so someone else may have a better answer
You are correct. This place has a 69 hood http://texarkana.craigslist.org/pts/2256223639.html And they also have a 68: http://odessa.craigslist.org/pts/2253945080.html Here are some 69's: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/pts/2255385414.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/pts/2239669532.html
Check the search feature. Ram air was available on 68's There are some here that have the original kits. Interesting set up. I believe that Frank McIntyre is working on a repoduction of this rare option.
Yes, ram air was optional in 68, but the hood itself did not look any different on the outside. The scoop is still at the rear of the hood with or without the ram air package. No 68 hood came with scoops in the middle of the hood.
Right thats why I suggested he look into the posts about the 68 option. Thats a neat installation IMHO
Hi , like David Says the 68 hood are bout the same , the GS's has hood scoop and the Skylark's has the hood spear in the middle , other than that that's the same hood and hinge . 68 hood scoop
