Does anyone know if the part numbers for my 68 LeSabre 400 shocks and springs cross with any other vehicle, or match the specs of another part that's interchangable? I am having a very difficult time locating aftermarket shocks/springs. I called Edelbrock about their Performer IAS shocks, but they don't have a listing for my application... will the shocks from another vehicle that is supported work? Also, Eibach doesn't have springs listed for my car (big shock, huh?), but they told me to find another vehicle that has similar spring specs. I haven't found anything, and as a matter of fact, I'm not having much luck finding the specs for my stock springs... I would greatly appreciate any assistance here...
anybody? I know I'm not the only one here piloting a cruise ship... what are you other guys using for shock and springs?

got mine about 5 years ago. unfortunately the place is out of business (trak auto in chicago) they ordered them from Moog. A/C cars use a missmatched set due to the weight difference on each side. my car had the a/c taken out before i bought it so the springs are now the same right and left. i cant find the receipt to give you a part number to help you more.
they ordered the springs from moog? well then, I guess I will try to contact moog and see if they have part numbers... anyone else have any info? I see books for sale for the old Buicks that have all of the part numbers... does anyone have that?
ok, i have a spreadsheet with all of the MOOG spring specs... http://bbb-carb.com/moog_Coil_Springs.htm now if I can only find out the stock Buick specs for my car! The 3 that I got from Rock Auto were MOOG numbers: CC503 4 door sedan AND hardtop rear variable springrate 5247 4 door hardtop rear heavy duty 6363 4 door sedan rear Rock auto also has a section for leaf springs, but the parts that it brings up are ACDelco rear coil springs. They also have a section for front coil spring insulators, however they do not have a listing for front coil springs. And all the places I've searched, I still haven't found anything about mis-matched sets due to A/C... anyone elses springs come like that? I also found the correct Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks (front: #5815; rear #5820. Although they aren't the Edelbrock IAS I wanted, they should provide a very good ride. I'm still trying to see if I can find another vehicle that uses that same Monroe shock and has a listing for the IAS so I can cross reference. I gotta get this spring thing figured out though... If I can get the stock specs, Eibach said they would match them and find me some drop springs that will work. Which brings me to another issue... Eibach doesn't have a spring listed for my car, however, Summit Racing has an Eibach pro drop kit listed for it, part number EIB-6363-143. When I google the part number, it comes back for an Infinity G35. I will call Eibach in the morning to see what's up with that... maybe see if I can get the spec on their springs for that kit.
ok, i got another question... in the 1968 model identification data sheet in the shop manual, would my LeSabre 400 be a regular 4 dr hardtop or LeSabre Custom 4 dr hardtop, because it is showing a weight difference...
sorry i forgot to mention in my previous post. the springs were for the front. on monday i will check around to see if i could get some more options for both performance and stock for springs and shocks.
stock springs would be nice... but maybe 1" drop springs would be even better. I think if I can get the stock specs, Eibach can give me the drop specs... But I would at least like to get some stock replacement for the time being... biggreen68sabre, let me know what you come up with!
i checked around and couldn't find anything either. the only thing i could suggest is to call moog to find out if they have a equivalent to the stock spring. every parts store i checked had nothing listed for 68 full size.
yeah, thats my dilema... im sure moog has an equal to the stock spring (although theres not a listing for my car)... and so does eibach and everyone else... the problem is that I can't find the specs for the stock spring! any one know where I can find the stock spring rates? hey biggreen, I don't suppose you have a part number or anything on the spring itself, do you?
NAPA website had 2 listings for the rear springs, and none for the front. One of the listings matches the MOOG#5247, and the other spring was variable rate and didn't list any specs. On a wild guess, I would probably say that the variable rate spring matches the MOOG# CC503, but I have no way of confirming that. I still can not find any listing or specs for the front springs...
ok, I have found MOOG listings for 67 and 69, but no listing for 68... 67 4 dr ht front: hard top- 5044 heavy duty- 586 69 all- 5378 those springs are not only different in specs between years, but they also differ in design, and are not interchangable. has anyone been able to come across the 68 specs yet?
I had to bring my thread back from the dead... because I'm still searching for information. I was going to start a new thread, but there's a lot of information already in this one, so here we go... Does anybody have the stock specs on the springs, or a part number?
