the passenger side front break is haning up on my car. thought the wheel cylinder was the problem. replaced with a nos unit from vintage auto. the brake will not relax back to a free position after break is applied. the wheel cylinder lets the preasure off when the bleeder is opened only. is my problem the proportioning valve? all other breaks are functioning properly please help

    '68 Riv Brake

Tim this querry should be posted in' the whoa and the sway section of the board' but my guess would be:
I'm no mechanic, but are the self adjusters working properly (free 'n easy)? Try backing the adjuster off to see if it is functioning OK. :Do No:

thank you for the reply. everything out at the wheel is in working order. a vendor has sugested that some debris is in the line between the proportioning valve and the wheel cylinder. going to look into this possibility. Your car looks nice my 68 is a 45,000 mile one owner car. bought from a deceased doctors wife 8 years ago she did not drive. Need to get back on the road to enjoy the rest of our season. Do you know the locks area.

    Brake Problem

    Hey Tim -
'Thanks' for the praise on the car, how about a pic of your low mileage '68 when you get a chance. Plenty of Riviera owners hang out here.
Do you know the locks area - not sure what your asking ?
Have you heard about the ROA ? (Riviera Owners Association)
Check out thier web site: www.rivowners.org
Has your car sat for a long time, sometimes rust / brake dust build up in the drum will cause the shoes to hang up, but I assume you've checked this out, when you replaced the wheel cylinder.

It was something internally in the hose, probably deteriorated rubber or something like that.........hoses are readily available, it's best to just replace the pair. :bglasses:
