I need a new fuel tank for my '68 Riviera. I could get mine repaired for $400, however, I'm on a tight budget and would like to save that cash for something else. Anybody know where I could get a tank? or just something that would work and be safe.
I have one from a 67 Wildcat.....may only have to change the fill necks to make it work......$50.00....u-pick-up. it is much better than the picture looks....... Peace WildBill
Actually these tanks were made specifically for the Riviera as they are shaped to fit around the spare tire well in the trunk floor and the X frame chassis. I'd think anything from a 1968-1970 Riviera would work, although in '69, Buick went to an electric fuel pump in the tank which would necessitate replacing the sending unit/pump with yours. It is also possible that 66 & 67 might work but I know little to nothing about those years. The good news is that Buick built a ton of '69 Rivieras so they are pretty plentiful in the right wrecking yards. Greg
'66 - '70 should be all the same 2nd gen. Riviera specific tanks, but they may have different length filler necks. o No:
Fla is a long way to be shipping a tank. I'll keep it in mind incase I can't find any close to me. Thanks Hmm, I'll remember that and check to see. Thanks for the heads up. : )
Thanks for the replies. I just found a tank last night after I bumped this thread. I'm gonna keep GM Obsolete bookmarked in case I need another part. Thanks for the info, Bad Boattail. & Thanks for checking Ken.
