So, we got one manifold off & it's really worn where it mounts to the block (yes, I know there's a gasket btwn). Took it to the local machinist who says shaving it off won't leave enough metal to work with...it's all pitted & brittle & was leaking in several places. I'd like to find after-market new manifolds but can only find "headers" (and have no idea..). How about just shaving them down & putting in 2 gaskets? Is there an affordable way to build the metal up that will last? Help!
Buick 350 manifolds should be bountiful (and probably cheap) - just get anothe pair. Post a 'parts wanted' thread here, or check out a junkyard. PS - Welcome to V8Buick
Not as bountiful as I'd hoped, been looking for a couple of weeks. And it's convertible season so I'm getting impatient...about ready to go with the 2 gaskets & keep looking while driving it. But, yeah, will post the parts wanted.
I wouldn't do that..... Buick did NOT use gaskets on the exhaust manifolds. I'd try to buy a used pair. Try the "parts wanted" section.:TU:
You could also try TA Performance. I believe they maintain a limited inventory of used engine components. Larry
I'm parting out a '69 skylark with a locked-up 350 right now (heading to the junkyard next week). If you pay the shipping you can have the exhaust manifolds. Let me know soon......
