It is going to be an interesting test of the marketplace for that car . If you recall a nice 69 4 speed stage 1 convert. stayed here for a long time without selling a couple of years back. I think it went for the low 20s. I could see this car ending up in the 20s, 30s or 40s depending on if two people with the horsepower get after it. I will really be shocked by a 50s, 60s, or 70s thousand dollar offer. I do not bet but I almost would that it will not see a buy it now offer of 85K. The most likely outcome is that the current owner continues to be the proud owner.
I have to agree with Jim here...Probably a NO Sale. Looking at the 85k "buy it now" I have a feeling the owner is very very proud of this one...I would think mid 30's to low 40's in todays market, but these don't come on the market in this condition very often...we will see. It is a beautiful example of a low production Buick muscle car...
Jim, I recall the one that was on here your referring to. I actually had planned on going to look at it myself since it was right down the street but never made it ou: And as I recall, it sold for about 20k. Dave
WOW!!!! :jd: I was wondering if this was the HOlY GRAIL of 69. I got a 4-speed Stage 1 HT, But I was considering looking for a Stage 1 vert, I guess there is atleast one around... :ball: Too bad 85 G's is out of my range :ball: Michael
Sold my convert for $23,000 2 years ago in fall. Was a nice car. I'm curious where this auction will end up. Tony
I remember that car. It was in the concours class at the G$CA nats in 97 or 98 I think. It was restored by that place north of the border that some folks here just love! Unless the owner fixed a number of things ( I helped judge that year), it does not command the high price being asked. If you look carefully at the motor pics, the heads are not 69 pieces (there is a casting missing above the spark plugs) and the motor may not even be original. Can't recall exactly what was not right as it was several years ago. It was done nicely, but not an $85K car in my opinion. Just my 2 cents. Mark
That is a really nice car, although the 85k mark is kind of pricey in the market for a buick muscle car, I guess we will see what it will do...rare car. :TU:
oh my Wow,I wonder what our all original 69 GS400,4speed,with dealer provided stage 2,and only 18,000 miles might be worth.I doubt even 1/3 the reserve.I hope he gets it,it will surely increse the value of all our cars. Not that I'd ever consider selling "Blue". gary
This may not pretain to this car, but I was looking thur some X-tra's , and came across an article about a 69 stage-1 convert that was a proto-type for the 70 stage-1. It came with 70 Stage-1 on it. All the paper work was there saying it was a engineering test car . Something to think about. The x-tra 92 year.
OK, Who is questioning his BIN price? Q: you can't be serious on that buy it now price, can you? Apr-13-05 A: Thanks for the question. If you had a car like this you wouldn't need a $1.99 book to learn how to satisfy a woman.
Does anyone know if this car was sold new in Canada? If so, would that make it even more rare as it is an "export" model? The car is only a couple of hours from me. Too bad I'm about 83 grand short on the cash... Todd
