I have been eyeballing a 69 hood with the 2 vents
Is this an easy swap on my 68 California GS?
I have no mechanical experience and never done much to cars Im not really digging this hood and cowl thingy on the california i like the way the vents look on the 69 better and would like to get a 69 hood would i have to change air cleaners? Is this something a knucklehead could do
    Thanks for any advise

If you want the dual snorkle air cleaner to line up with the cutouts in the hood, you'll have to purchase a '69 air cleaner. I'm not exactly sure if the '68 has the rubber vent hose on the passenger valve cover, that's where the '69 vent hose is located. The '70 and newer air cleaners moved the vent hose to the drivers side.

The cutouts don't really add anything performance-wise, it just looks better!

It'll work just fine with your air cleaner. Some guy's, myself included, will run a regular round chrome air cleaner from the auto parts store and put the ram air cleaner on at shows. Saves wear and tear on the fiberglass housing on the front of the ram air housing.

Just the air cleaner lid should have been chrome on your car, but I'm not sure if the GS350 and GS California had chrome lids or not. It may have been just the GS400's. Either way, finding an original chrome lid in perfect shape is near impossible. You might want to look into getting yours rechromed or possibly the replacement lid from The Parts Place. It's a decent copy that shines pretty well.

Cool, make sure it's the lid for buick/olds/pontiac. The chebby lid has a different angle to one of the folds on it.

Well i figured i would buy the air cleaner whille i search for a nice looking hood to replace the 68 hood. Can anyone tell me if this Air cleaner is worth $450 seller will pay shipping he says it reconditioned Or can i possibly find one a bit cheaper Im in no rush as i have not found a decent hood yet for a decent price Ps he will replace that decal with the correct one

That's correct for a 69, the breather opening being on the passenger side. It's hard to tell from the picture but if the plastic parts are painted then it's not correct. They should be natural finish. $450 is pricey, especially if you're going to put a chrome lid on it but they're getting harder to find.

Thanks Jim he says its correct for a 69 hood and that it will go right on my car and that i can remove the dual part until i find a hood ?
i will probaly still get the chrome lid but wont be in a rush if i shell out $450 for this and still need to get a hood I just wasnt sure if this was a fair deal Thanks for the advise
