Guys, I understand the 55 is Turquoise Mist but cant seem to figure out what the B stands for. I'm sure its the ragtop color but cant find a color chart. Currently the top is white but its not original. Anybody have this info? Matt
Did some checking on my 69 and 70 cars. They all have vinyl tops, but the letter code is for the top color. "B" was used for black. So, my guess would be that it stands for black on your car as well. Painted tops, which would not apply for your car, have the color code of the paint. My wagons, have the same code repeated. eg 57 57 etc. There were 2 tone paints available on wagons, so that would apply. Hope this helps, Mark
Can't find my 1960-1969 book now, but for model year 1970 I see digits instead of letters for the vinyl and convertible tops... o No: 1970: Vinyl roof colours: 1 = White 2 = Black 7 = Dark Gold 8 = Dark Brown 9 = Dark Green Convertible top colours: 1 = White 2 = Black 5 = Sandalwood I noticed that sometimes the codes from Fisher are different compared to the ones in this book.
Just looked at my trim tag... TR 185= Pearl Wht (bucket) interior 77A PNT= antique gold/ white top 12C---- can't remember this one... The top is ORIGINAL and is white with glass rear window... Hope this helps!!!
Hi Erik - This will <hopefully> clear up the the confusion... For paint codes, Buick used letters in their documentation (called 'Cisco codes'), and Fisher used numbers on the cowl tag. For vinyl top codes (including convertibles), Buick used numbers in their documentation and Fisher used letters on the cowl tag. Here's an example - my car is 1970 Sherwood Green with a black convertible top. My Sloan Documentation states MM2 My cowl states 48 B ou:
Thanks for all the input guys, i guess someone didnt like the black top and changed it to white. It needs changing again pretty sure i will go with black. Matt
Thanks Mark!! Just looked through the 'collection' of MCR and GMC's, etc and found the info... 12=month, letter code = week. Hmm, early built GS ragtop :Brow:
