I thought I'd ad some pics of the old girl as I blast away the crud from 17yrs of neglect. The only thing that saved her was this dry Alberta climate. Just some before/after shots for now. I'll slowly be picking away at it throughout the summer and update as I go along.
Wow, very clean. Best year ever for Skylarks too. Looks like the pant might even come back with a good buffing.
Don't get me wrong, I like them a little rough around the edges. When I can manage to pick up another one it'll be a driver, no show queens in my garage.
Yup...I've had my share of show queens as well, but this one is going to be left outside and driven daily. ( if and when I get it running )p
Thanks, she had been painted back in the 80's and is starting to show her spots again, but not bad for a 45yr old car. What impressed me was how the doors close nice and tight, she was well taken care of prior to being parked.
Well I thought I'd ad an update since today she showed some signs of life after sitting dormant for 17yrs. ray: My neighbour was kind enough to donate a battery... budget build :TU:... so after a quick charge, I cleaned the cables and hooked her up. First thing to check after the horn ( which works! ) was the stereo, the 6x9 Alpines in the package tray still pound out the tunes! Next we went through the critical lights and they all work!..even the license plate and reverse lights! I was tempted to turn it to 'start' for the first time but will at least pull the plugs first and give the holes a shot of some special sauce. More as I find the time, but am happy with the first signs of life!
Well I can't be any happier with the old girl, runs and handles great for her age. Still looking for an HEI..will have to haunt the classifieds here .
