Thought I would put this in the trans section. Just picked up 69 Special Deluxe that has a ST300 trans.
I always thought the firewall should still have the cutout for a TH350 cable. This firewall does NOT have the square opening for the TH350 cable which was first available in 69. It is not covered over (that I can see) and it looks like a 68 firewall. Even my 69 Stage 1 (TH400) has the hole in the firewall and most other 69's I have seen do even if there is no TH350.
Ages ago, I swapped a Powerglide out of a 69 El Camino for a TH350 and THAT had the square hole, even though chevy never used the firewall cable setup. Wound up using a Buick gas pedal and trans cable to complete the swap as it was much easier.
This 69 Special was made in Canada and has the 12 bolt axle. A previous owner removed the data plate on the cowl, so I can't find a build date. Maybe early 69's didn't have the square hole. :Do No:
Was just curious if anyone else has seen this, or maybe Duane has a clue.

    Thanks,
    Mark
