    70 350 SP code engine

I am looking for a 70 350 engine, oil pan to intake prefered, but other variants considered. SP block code stamping and corresponding casting numbers a must.

    Thanks! :3gears:

SP's are available in the big cars. Right?

    Isn't the "SP" the Hi-Compression ones ?

The one in the pic has an air cleaner that says 350-2 which I believe means it came with a 2 barrel carb. Since the sp I believe was the high compression 4 barrel engine with 315 hp I would say that is not an sp.

  7. there are 68-69 and a 70 350 4bbl 350's in the yard that are all in lasabres.

The SP is the GS 350 motor. This is one I have in my garage now but it is not for sale. This is my base for my 460/470hp pump gas project.

Yes, the SP is the hi-compression 350 4-barrel engine for the GS. I'm surprised so many went to dump! But hey, it happens. If anyone has one let me know. Thanks!

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

An SP 350 could be ordered in any and all Skylarks as well as LeSabre & LeSabre Custom.

SP was not exclusive to the GS.

If you spot a "High Compression" decal on the breather lid....check the block, should be an SP, if it's the original motor.

Thanks Korrie For the Clarification on the SP Block I had heard that at one point, but did not want to cut myself short by saying so.

Another bump. I'm still looking. If someone has just the block, that's good too, I could build it up, but I need the SP stamped block.

    Anyone?

Why is an SP block so important when it's not 'numbers matching'?

Just a question from the peanut gallery over here.

    Thanks!

I still want an SP block because it's correct for the GS 350. If I can't get it, I'm not worried, but it's preferred because it's still the right block, and yes I understand there is no difference between the SO SB and SP blocks except stamping.
