We need a slick, not a rough pitted stove plate, for a 70 GSX 455 concours resto. This is the piece that goes over the LH exhaust manifold.

Still looking for this piece without a lot of pits and corrosion. George had another piece but not this one. George thanks for offering to assist.

    Jim,
I have an NOS one and am considering using it as a pattern to reproduce them. Do you think there is enough interest?

I'm sure that would be a pretty pricey die to build, but I know I would buy several if they were available.

Duane I would take two myself if I could get them by April. I checked with Joe and this is not one he is doing. I assumed they were stamped out in a long gone Flint press.

We took a little interest poll when Joe was first gauging the interest in the heat shield for moter mounts. JW. Mark etc responded for restos. Like everything eles it is affected by the price point to sell them in mass.

    Duane,
I would buy a couple of them. I need one for my 71 GS resto. Are they the same from 70-72?. The starter and motor mount shield would also be a great repro candidate.

    Thanks

I also would be interested. The one off my X looks to be in the same condition as the one pictured above.

Am fairly certain that 71 and later shields have a notch cut into them at the rear, due to a square casting on the manifold. A 70 shield would need to be cut out in order to fit properly. Should not be a big deal to do, though it is a difference. No need to repro two different shields IMHO.

    Hay Glen & Mark...

Buick lists that they were all the same part number #1233450
    from 68-75 455 Engine
Their term for this part is listed as..." Collector-Exh Manif Heat"
Their price in the mid 80's was $8.70

Buick also lists the Left "EXHAUST MANIFOLD" as part # 1233451 for
the 1970 and again their term is "70 455 Eng Manifold, Exhaust-LH"
It sold for $70.00 back in the mid 80's

Buick lists the 71-74 455 "EXHAUST MANIFOLD" as the same part number as
    the 70 455 which is again part#1233451. Price $70.00 in MID 80's

    Sincerely,

    GSX Eric :3gears:

Jim, we (TA) must have at least 50 of them, I believe we have some in excellent condition. Give me a quick call. 480-922-6807. We also have tons of starter and motor mount heatshields. I don't know the pricing off the top of my head (I'm at home right now).
