I have a 70 455 that i want to sell. Its apart. The block is 30 over with all the oil mods and the deck/line bore and square all checked, set up for the std/std crank with TRW 30 over forged pistons, and redone rods. NEW SFI flex plate, KB window rattles cam HD pushrods (from TA or KB) stock 70 heads with STG1 springs to go on but pulled apart for some mild porting(not done yet) have rockers coplete and front cover with oil pum booster and new adj spring(TA) also cleened up Offy intake.

It needs: rings, bearings, gaskets, timing set, lifters, valve job to put back together. Will NOT part out at this time.

I dont sonic test a block because of the cost unless your building A high HP mtr and this is a 70 block. I would have used a 75/76 if i was building a block withs say 600 or more hp and it would have all the goodys on it like billet caps ,studs, girdle. I have put several of these combos together over the last 20 years and never had a problem with them. some guys wont even look at a block for a performace MTR without it and others will. I just think its a waist of money to be done at this level is all. but i did have it on my 76 mtr and its making over 600 on the mtr and should make 850-900 on spray. Hope that kind of answers your question

Huh Its like $80 to sonic check a block. That's peanuts compared to how much all the machine work/parts cost. Year of block makes no difference. You really need to read this thread:

you said it. $80-125 around here and its not a high HP mtr.I have read that thread and theres good stuff about it. Im just telling you I wouldnt on a low HP or a mild build like the one this. An basd on my 20years of doing it I dont think it needs it. If you put All the STG2 parts on a 455 its over the number I am looking at. Buick didnt tell you that you have to have this done. its just something to check bigger pwr car with. This is a Mild set up,as big engines go. All I did really was add a cam and a intake to it. an that calls for sonic testing???

All I am sayying is that I just dont think it is needed. I have don it on my other Mtr but it makes crazy pwr and it needs a girdle, rods pistons studs and all the machine wrk to go with it. I would have even done the cryfreeze thing that people have done to make things stronger but the only place that does it is 2hours away and theresa lista mile long. and the cost?? I understand the buick 455 ist the stronest block and I understand there are ways to make it stronger but for a mtr that just needs some rings and bearing to run again??. An trust me the next bigg pwr mtr I build will have all of this stuff thats proven. untill I can build a $6000 TA block. but I havent gotten to those kind of HP numbers yet.

An Please, please dont take this as being hate mail or starting something. I totally do not want that. If someone wants it done before they buy it they can call and work out a deposit plan or something

I was just asking Doug, just out of curiosity, I thought sonic testing was most important when boring out, like this block is.
I'm actually very interested because I am one of the few members who is also in CA, and 455's never come up in my area. But it depends on how quick you are looking to get rid of it. Im overseas right now and wont be home to be able to pick it up for a while

Im not looking to keep it to long as i really dont have the room. but I wont let it go for nothing eaither as there getting harder and harder to find. and this one just needs a rebuild. If I dont sell it soon I might just set it on the stand and buy the bearings and gaskets and put it together myself and then try to sell it.
When do you get back? are you in The military? I could put it aside if you want? PM me
