I am new to Buicks, so you someone tell me how the Ram Air hoods work on 70-72 GS cars? I know that most GM Ram Air set ups use some type of a vacuum motor to actuate the air flow. Thanks!
Just two openings through grilles which feed through two foam seals into two snorkels on a round cleaner sitting on top of a carb.
Per Dennis Manner (Buick Senior Engineer for V8 and V6 Engines) The ram air is a marketing item. Does NOT have any ram air effect at all.
More of a "cool-air" intake than a "ram-air" intake. A person could attach some 4" scoops to the air inlets and make it "ram-air" I guess.:Brow: Not many people willing to mess up a "GS" hood though. Would kinda look like the twin scoops on the early TransAm cars. Might be cool...if done right.o No: :TU:
Ithought about making some bolt on scoops so i wouldnt ruin my hood, just an idea though, maybe someday
Doesn't somebody have/make a fiberglass GS hood? I thought I have seen them.?? Probably not too cheap though. It would be less "painfull" to modify a "glass" hood. Just an idea.:Brow: o No:
