Hello folks not new to the Buick arena but new to the "boats" I just aqurired a pretty clean 1970 Buick Lesabre 4 drht and I am looking for a fuel tank sending unit? Do they not make these? Can I use one from a "sister" b-body? Here are a few pics of the new acquisition:
http://www.classicbuicks.com/fuel.htm You might have to contact them directly to get the sender for your Lesabre. You mention that your Lesabre has a new tank, are you certain the ground wire was hooked back up to the top of the tank and that it is making a clean ground. If not your guage will always show full, or if poorly grounded it will jump sparaticly.:TU:
They don't list a sender for you rcar, but they do notate a replacement for the 69'-76' models. I would also trying calling my local parts store. There is a good chance they could come up with something for you. But make sure the sender is properly grounded. It will not work without that simple ground wire. BTW, Nice ride:TU:
I couldn't find anything for my 70 coupe either, but after a lot of research, I'm 95% sure the one for the Skylarks are the same thing. I got a new repro delivered for under $50, but I haven't had a chance to swap it yet. I need to empty the tank as the unit is mounted on the top and will require the tank to be lowered to replace it.
If that works that would be awesome please keep me posted on how it turns out I have to go out of town but when I return I will pick one up, it is so frustrating not knowing how much you have left, lol
