    Buying a 70 Custom 4-ddor - 350 4bbl... dual exhaust... as my daily dirver...

Question - the passenger side power window is dead - dead motor. Where can I get this repaired? Can this part possibly be "had" from a dealership? Or, will I have to do an intensive search via internet, Hemmings, salvage yards... Also - this was a smoker's car, and I am non-smoker - Febreeze or something similar on the carpert, seats, dash and headliner will help?? Or is there something else more of the "automotive" world to freshen the cars scent up?!

Thanks! As for the "clatter" - coming from the drivers side... very slight - do not think it is an oil pump, but I do not know these things... What could the worse case scenario be? Cost?? Again, very slight "ticking"...

Are you sure it is the motor and not the wiring where in the boot where the door opens? If it just a matter of installing new brushes and cleaning the commutator a small motor repair shop should be able to fix it.

Is the ticking a leaking exhaust manifold which is a typical problem?

For the smoke smell I only konw things that will override it a bit. Short of putting in a new interior I know of nothing that will remove it.

Not sure on the window motor, but good info. Thanks. I imagine the wiring problem in the power window could be costly??

I am having the "tick" looked at to see if it is indeed what you suggest... leaky exhaust manifold. Costly repair??

So what will override the smoke? Have you ever tried Febreeze on a car's interior?? Sucks to be a non-smoker and smell smoke! It is not overbearing, but again, when you do not smoke, a dash of scent can be more than enough!

GM power window motors seldom go bad (at least from my experience with 100's of 'em). If the motor does check out as being bad, there are literally thousands of them in wrecking yards as all Gm window motors are the same for like 20 years--50-70's.

What if it is the wiring, as noted in a previous post on this thread? What would be the cost???
