    Thank you man!

The tough thing is, is that Im on the hook for another one that's not quite 'for sale' yet, but Im first in line, and it too is a nice one....

    Oh the dilema...:ball:

Did the owner ever get back to you? This looks like a pretty decent car, but I don't see pictures of everything I would want to know about before I bid. I know where all of the bad spots are on the replica I am trying to create and would not want to buy a real GS with the same issues. Did you get a look at it in person?

    Gary

    Hey Gary
The seller did email me with some answers to questions I had.
1 - Trunk lid is rusty, needs repair and paint
2 - quarter panel has damage where a wheel barrel fell against it. Its been repaired, but needs paint
3 - there is some rust under the windshield
4 - I don't believe its the original motor as in 70 the VIN was on the deck not the front as pictured in the auction
5 - he said he'd send more pictures, but Ive not received any. I even emailed him again on yesterday and today.

Thank you for the information. I also asked for pictures of the inside of the trunk, the bottoms of the doors and under the hood last night. I did not get anything yet either. If I get something, I will share them with you.

    Gary, did you win?
I got more pictures from the seller this evening, he called me too
Told him if it didnt sell Id likely want to see it this weekend...we'll have to see if the winner follows though.

He did tell me he bought it 5 yrs ago
from an elderly couple that had a barn full of cars in Indiana
    car came from CA
He thinks its the original motor, VIN is on the front, and it does match the dash
    he rebuilt the trans
also added 3.42 Posi rear end, but it leaks.

there is no rust on the car, floors are solid, trunk, quarters too, no bondo he went over it with a magnet when he bought the car.
Zero rust where the paint meets the vinyl top.
    Some rust under the windshield
the rust on the trunk lid is not so much rust, he described it as it looked like it melted.. cant really tell from the pix what he's talking about
then the repairs on the quarter need to be done too where a wheel barrel fell against it.
he said really the whole car needs to be painted, as who ever did it, did a crappy job. Metallics are uneven, some runs, rough spots, orange peel etc.

    seemed like a nice guy
Told me reserve was $12,500, and sure enough the 2nd bid has won it...

    More pix

Nice clean car for the money. I wonder if the seller put more pictures on the Ebay auction if the bidding might have gone a little higher. I really like the diplomat blue with white interior/top combination.

It looks like the same color as my '55; Colonial Blue. The same color in '56; Cadet Blue.

I can't believe I was in Ft Myers Beach all of last week - and didn't see this thread until tonight (crappy internet access all week)! I would have gone to see it for you for sure Curtis!

I hope the ebay "buyer" falls through - that is a nice looking car!

This is a CA car....there is a Z in the VIN. So it's difficult to prove either way.
The VIN that's on the motor does match the dash..but that could have been hand stamped

My numbers matching 70 also built in Freemont late in 69 has the block stamped in the front as well.
