http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-Do...cks?hash=item4147ced2db&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 motor was replaced in 76 stage 1 emblems the vin is 43437.... sounds fishy to me and no stage 1 will bring in 35000 w\o the numbers motor... What do you guys think?
I just got my Stage 1 appraised for 56K and it does not have the original block, note that the Stage 1 package had nothing to do wtih the block itself, it was the heads, dist, carb, transmission and rear end
Unless I missed it, there was not a mention of it being a stage1 other than the emblems, prolly just a GS350 car!! Ron

all 1971 GS cars start with 43437, the 455 or stage 1 was an option so is not in the VIN. makes 71 hard to document without paperwork. edit: oops should have mentioned 71 GS ragtops would be 43467

the "34" listed for 70-71 skylark in the above chart is incorrect for 1971. The 1971 assembly manual lists all skylarks for 71 as 433 (27, 37, and 69) and all skylark customs as 444 (37, 67, 39, and 69). Only the GS and the wagon had 434 as the starting digits. This is backed up by a real GM parts catalog, the dove series, owners manuals, and pretty much everywhere else. Year one had a this typo in their catalog as well, as an owner of a 1971 GS (documented) it is really annoying. Pic attached from another copy of a buick parts catalog (to take mine apart to scan page is insane with 1000's of pages).
Thanks for clearing that up Tim. I always wondered about that, because I see that often and always thought why they list the Skylark and GS as 434.It has it here also: http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/buick-gs/buick-gs-specs.shtml#VIN
Its the same list...sure makes the rounds, probably because it has info for all the years and if there is one thing generic lists are good at, it's mistakes!!
I was just looking at this and the interior pictures show the tan vinyl. The exterior pictures look like the interior is black... Fishy...
That's exactly what I was thinking, that they have used two different cars for the photos, very suspicious.
I agree, confusing to say the least... Heris my query, "Ok,Why are the pics of the red car (stage1) showing a black interior??? While were at it, what's up w/ the Stage emblems? Before I bid I need answers... Thanks, Jason:"
It's just the lighting and the tint in the windows, if you look real close you can see the interior is tan and that the pictures are of the same car. The interior is not black in the pictures, look real close and you can see it is brown/tan, especially if you look through the front windshield.
Chris is right,it's the tint that throws it off. You can clearly see the tan dash and rear package tray along with the top of the seats in the photos.
Naw, not the placement, they just don't mention 'em. Just "GS". Seems weird  Anyway here is there response to my question: "Here's the answer to the first question, the interior is not black. It is tan. The dash does have some black gauges. As for the Stage emblems, I don't have a clue what you are asking about. On the outside of this vehicle none of the emblems have been changed." So I can see the interior issue as bad photography, but either they don't know they have a Stage 1,or don't care that it is... . Their next auction would be Picasso's painting of "guernica" as "a nice little Mexican canvas".ou: (yes I know it's a mural-just sayin') So is it a "Stage" and is it worth it????
the vin start with a 43437 meaning 70 GS 350 2 dr hardtop. well not exactly that but it was originally a 350 car.
