Does anyone know the uniformity of the original trunk spatter pattern for a '70 GS? My restorer recently painted my trunk and I noticed that some of the paint specks were more blotch-like (some just under dime-sized) and noticeably different than what I've seen in other original or restored '70 GS's. Was the spatter pattern from the factory fairly uniform or are some larger blotches considered acceptable? I've attached a couple of pictures showing my trunk. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

In order to correctly duplicate the fine craftsmanship the factory put into it, your painter would need to down a 6 pack then smoke a joint. Only then would he be able to match the uniformity of the job they did.

These cars were thrown together and they got whatever they got as far as paint. It looks better than factory

I agree. It looks fine. Originals were very inconsistent.

In late 1970 I worked at the GMAD in Van Nuys, Ca. Lunch time (second shift) the guys headed across the street to one of the two bars. There were pitchers of beer all lined up for them to toss their money down and throw them back. One could buy whatever recreational pharmaceuticals they wanted, anytime, inside the plant. There was even a prostitution ring running for awhile, because all the people staggering back from lunch were such a crush that the guards couldn't and/or didn't check all their badges, and hookers made it into the building. That got put to a stop, but it did happen.

the black duplicolor bed liner in the blue can not the "armor guard" quart or even the spray can lays down smooth, is tough, and covers quick, then mix up or have mixed some turquoise base or enamel then turn psi down on the gun so it just spits out, this works awesome and "feels" rite not to mention its tough, ive done a few this way,

Brian, I have heard this was the closest to original. They will only ship in the good weather as it is water based and it can freeze and then it is trash.

mask of your car pick a flat under the hood color from a good paint store make sure they mix it in single stage urethane buy a cheap primer gun with an aircap 1.6 not smaller.and spray the paint at 15 psi start spraying in the back seat area move your way slow and even to the back bumper. when your done you will look at a beautiful trunk. and want to hug me! it's that easy. just make sure you clean floor before painting.oh yeah make sure you pic a gray solid color! dude you will be amazed wow good it looks. tack it off before you spray. and yes it will stick! at 15 psi.
