    Customers daily driver. Whatcha's think?

    Here's what I started with:

Here's a shot of it after sandblasting, epoxy, and paint. I had to do some filling of the frame because there was heavy pitting on it, but not really that bad for northern NY car.

Here's where I'm at right now. I'm not finished with the driverside brake upgrade yet, but I will be tomorrow. Then onto the rest of the car.

It should make for a great driver anywhere. I'll try to be good about updating this thread every weekend.

    THANKS GUY'S!

Well, I got a few more things done today. Finished up the driverside brakes, and changed out the stock non tilt steering column for a for tilt floorshift model.

Now I have question about the poportioning valve placement.
Has anyone used one of these after market disc brake conversions, if so how did you plumb your lines? I have good ideal how i'm going to go about it, but i'm just curious to see what everyone else has done.

Here's where the new set up has it located, up high right beside the master cylinder:

While my new brake lines are on there way I will tackle the job of cleaning and painting the engine and tranny next.

Jarod :gp: thank you for putting your pics on I wanted to do the same thing to my car then the lazy side of me kick in and thought black would look ok after seeing your car gives me motivation to do it right. did you clear coat the parts to keep them from rusting? Keep up the good work

What did you use to apply the paint and epoxy?

ajjones44: I use to do bodywork fulltime but now I do it as a hobby. Less stress. So I have all the equipment to do it right. I basically used my HVLP paint gun. Any paint gun will work.

HADA-X: I used a single stage paint on the firewall (semi-gloss) and I did the same for the frame, but used a satin paint that wasn't as black as the firewall, to give it some contrast, most people don't notice it. I like contrast, and this customer is going to use the car as a driver, so he likes what he see's thus far. Not GM original paint scheme, but it doesn't matter here.

cole d: THANKS! Do it, it just takes some time and patients.

Well, I'm waiting for a timing chain for the engine, so looks like I'll show you what i'm up to on the qtrs. I bought aftermarket qtrs, inner wheel house, and trunk extensions, not the best fitting stuff but better than nothing.

This is what I had to cut out so far:

I only used a piece of the trunk extension because it was nowhere's close to fitting correctly. At least I had good metal still on the car to work with so I butt welded it.

Here you can see a major gap between the lower extension and the qtr panel. You will also notice I had to add to the lower extension, there wasn't much of lip there to weld to when I extend the qtrs. I will cut off what isn't needed later.

And here's a shot of one side all prefiit:

I guess I'll keep you posted on the rest of the car as I go. Oh yeah, that rear qtr glass was junk before I started, someone had already DA it previously, so I will be looking for new qtr glass here soon. I think I have one but not sure which side.
Not suspension or engine bay stuff but what the he**.

I hope you threw those ugly yellow wires in the trash. I had them on my cars in the late 70's. what was I thinking?
