He did in fact provide me with the VIN a few weeks ago, but I lost it. The odd thing is that he won't splurge for the report despite so many people asking for it.

Or, he did find out it's not a Stage 1 and doesn't want to let people know that.

I'd love to have the car but the vin doesn't decipher anything more than a GS 455 car Keep digging for the Stage 1 proof. I am 40 miles from him and would buy the car in a minute for 27,500 if it was a documented stage 1 car as would many others. I don't believe it will even bring $20,000 at Carlisle.

If you have the VIN you can get a Sloan or Roberts report and determine whether it is a real Stage car and everything else as well.

Guys, I know that the prices have dropped in muscle cars but come on even if this car is not a Stage 1, it is a 455 four speed and should be worth the money he is asking!!!!:3gears:

Dang it...I'm sorry if I can't get a vin, I get a little nervous. I hate to see this go to auction, but I can't move forward without some basic info (which I am willing to do the legwork for). It really is what sort of car I am looking for to be able to drive and enjoy...a true GSX is a tough one to justify taking over to the local Hen House and letting the JoCo drivers take aim on.

I'm asking ONE last time, please pm me the vin so I can check it out and I'm sure we can get this deal done after a once over of the car. If not,I guess its back to keeping my eyes on the prowl. I hated missing Mark's old 71 GSX'd GS455 twice now, but I ain't desperate either

I know Wayne Roberts is not the fastest person in the world, but I have a hard time believing he is this slow. In this thread http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=97819 Joe said he was waiting on info from Wayne to see if it was a Stage 1 or not. That was April of 2006! The car has been for sale off and on since it was on ebay out of texas in 2004 and then Bassett's bought and sold it, and I think Joe has had it for sale for about two years, although he has dropped the price a lot since then.

I know that the ultimate issue is that the Seller should have access to this info by now and how this translates into an inference that there is some authenticity issue being concealed ... but Wayne Roberts can verify this info by the VIN for an interested prospective Purchaser, at a cost of course. Not the best alternative to a smelly fish, but it's there. Another alternative might be to find the prior owner(s) if this car has a history in the Buick community.

I talked to him a couple times back when I requested my documentation. He's a really nice guy to deal with. He told me that he batches regular requests so you could possibly wait quite a long time, or for an extra fee he will expedite your request and mail the documentation to you pretty quickly. I asked for the quick turnaround and I think it arrived in the mail in about 10 days or so.

Please post vin so interested people can do the legwork- Worst case it is 1 of 510 GS 455 4 speeds. Would you trade for a #matching documented 1970 Stage 1 needing TLC?

I wonder if it sold. I offered him $22,000 cash money and he said it wasn't enough. I wished him luck on the sale and no reply or comeback offer. I would rather buy the 70 GSX for sale here. It is a real X car and 4 speed to boot...I just don't have enough $$$ for it. This car fit my budget and it's local just no deal I guess??:Do No:

I wouldn't think it sold as he bumped it to the top today. I kind of gave up on it. For now, I'm keeping my numbers car and keeping my eyes open for a numbers GSX that would warrant me selling this 70 (after High torque gets done freshening it up after almost 40 years)

I think you may be right. After all the interest, you wonder why he wouldn't try to get the info so the car would sell. I would buy it for what I offered if it is what he says it is.......Guess I'll never know!!!

Need guidance here, not for this car per se but in general. Would this car, a 1970 GS 455 4 speed (not Stage 1, not X) be worth less, more or about the same as the silver 1972 Stage 1 4 speed (from MN) that had been for sale here recently and sold ?

This seems to be in better condition and is from a "better" year, but is dressed as a clone.
