70 Pro Touring GSX replica I've been building the last two years here at my shop at Mild 2 Wild Paint & Graphics. I have customer cars that take precedence, but I got a chance to snap a few pics of its current stage. Car is a 72 Skylark from out west I put a roof skin on to replaced a badly patched sunroof. I followed up with my signature smooth firewall, 6 pt roll bar and larger trans tunnel for the TKO 600 trans. The floor and trunk were then sprayed in black bedliner. The suspension is a Ridetech Street Challenge airride system with adjustable shocks and E3 controller. The chassis sits on 245/40-18 and 295/35-19 BFG KDW2's on Forgeline ZX3R's with matte black centers and polished hoops attached to Wilwood 4-piston 12.2 brakes. The drivetrain is a 525 HP 462 BBB, aforementioned TKO600 with Centerforce clutch and Moser 9" spinning 3.89 gears. The car will feature a satin finish industrial look with 2011 Corvette Supersonic Blue paint with black GSX striping and bumpers and trim. Should be one wicked machine.
Very Nice! Glad to see it's still Buick powered too. The body color and wheels look really good. Be sure to keep posting updates. I'd love to have a pro touring Buick someday.
The current LS craze is very tempting. Those engine have awesome power potential, but I still have to have a Buick in my Buick!!!!
The LS2 was too powerful for Todd and myself to handle. And why not, when spanking a 2012 LS1 becomes harder to do...simply cause they are getting tired of being spanked. When they find out your Buick has the new SB Chevy in, well it's not pretty. Even the lady in the 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 with the 6.2L supercharged LSA as found in the Cadillac CTS-V sighs at you when you leave. "Who was that handsome stranger?" Even Duane wants nothing to do... With a '72 Skylark LS2
Thanks Steve! Fired engine up on my test stand. Great oil pressure with my custom SRE built road race style pan with kickouts, trap door and baffling. AED carb was spot on right out of the box. Her's a few pics of the Ridetech Shockwaves installed, Detroit Speed Select-a speed wiper motor, Dynamat install, Twist machine billet shifter, and Ridetech airride control system. Now I just need the time to finish paint!
Been a while since I've updated. Paint is done except for the hood which will be satin black. I decided to finish the car in PPG Flex n Flat satin clear. The Corvette Supersonic Blue looks downright evil with black GSX stripes and the satin clear. Brake lines and plumbing are finished. Next up is wiring, glass and weatherstrip, followed by interior. Getting closer!
Thanks guys! Hoping to get some of the wiring finished early mornings this next week. Planned to work on it today, but instead am painting a customer's 07 HD Street Glide.
Working on the wiring, some custom mods on the dash insert and my door panels and carpet showed up Fed-Ex today.
Car is wired. Air ride up and running. Good start on the dash. Working on weatherstripping, dash, and column over weekend.
Are you leaving the drip rail trim off? Im leaving mine and the wheel lip moldings off and going black on the window molding.
