:pp It was for sale in Jerset a couple (?) years ago for 20k? Chris, CJP69 will probably remember better than me.

Troy Thornton restored it. Troy is better known for his 442 restorations. I havent seen the car, but I hear its stunning. From what I understand, there are a few inconsistencies when it comes to finishes on certain items, but i think thats due to a restorer that might not be familiar with the nuances of Buicks

Its a strong price for this economy. I think the days if $175k Buicks are gone for now. I dont think you could duplicate it for less though.

One of these days, before Im back in diapers, mine will look that nice

He's opening himself up for "haters" when he says "Best of the best" and "None better" and the like. The car is very nice but there are a couple of things visible in the pictures that prove the car isn't the best of the best.

That is a good looking car.

It would be nice to see better pictures. I don't believe the quality or size of the posted pictures tell much of anything. Something that looks like a discrepancy
could be a flaw in the image itself.
    IMHO

Weeeellll.....the upscale (custom) interior without woodgrain on the dash tells me somethings adrift....

HOWEVER :Smarty: A beautiful car that I would be proud to own. :TU:

Weeeeeeeelll let me make myself clear. I meant flaws in the work not the accuracy of the car. I wouldn't know the difference for I'm not a purist but one of those nasty old hotrodders. Maybe that is why I'm not as negative as some of the anal ones are.:moonu:

Gee Bob, I didn't think I was being negative but when someone advertises their vehicle as "The Best" and I can see something that looks to be incorrect, well, I'll say so. See, I'm one of those nasty old judges who judge this type of car at many shows, so it's part of my persona to report (like on a judging sheet) something incorrect or defective. Really no different than when you would look at a rod that the owner says has the best paint in the whole entire world and you can see the orange peel down the side of the car with the bodywork showing through. You'll, if only to yourself, say no, that is not true or correct. It's not the best paint job in the world.

So see, we're not so different after all. :TU:

    docgsx It's not a GTX

I wonder if "Gregg" is the same guy that was selling the, no-document, 71, green GSX of a few years ago. Looks like his type of explanation.

Was this car at BBG in Hebron Ohio this year? My car sat next to a car just like this one during the concourse event and cannot remember the guys name - but the car was nice.

    Brad,

Thanks for clarifying my position so concisely. Where is the judging sheet? Maybe we should start at zero and work our way up instead!

Exactly. The padding on the seats doesn't look right either, not pulled down enough in the waffle section. And if you see the eBay ad he has posted there are quite a few under hood items that keep this car from being "The best of the best"

Still a beautiful car that with a few corrections could be fantastic. Not hating, just correcting!

Brad I wasn't referring to you as being negative but you have to admit there is plenty out there. I don't understand what people get out of beating everything down. I guess it makes them or their things look better in there minds. You pointed out the custom interior without the woodgrain on the dash as being incorrect. That sort of criticism doesn't bother me, but what does are the ones who say they see a few things wrong. Really? Well point them out. I don't think a lot of these guys who are knocking a car even know what they are looking at, they are just jumping on the band wagon. Hell they even criticize the way the ad or post was worded. And if you are judging at car shows you are a better man than I am. I have been approached a few times to judge at car shows. No thanks. I couldn't handle the whining, crying or the politicking. But somebody has to do it.:TU:

hey guys GREGG here I just want to say that since 1978 I have been around buicks..... I LOVE THEM especially 1971 GSXs LIMEMIST 4 SPEEDS..... I'm gonna CLEAR up a few things first JEFF thornton restored the car AND WHAT a job he did !!! plus the experience with him and his CREW were nothing short of amazing !! I went to both buick nationals this year but only showed the car in heberon ohio the first time it was EVER shown! I was welcomed buy the buick crowd with open arms !! many people came up to me and were BLOWN away really appreciated my car and I also appreciated AND complimented them on there PRIDE and joys in the concourse class....I remember kenny lisk giving me his fire extinguisher so I could get my car judged !!! is it the best of the best NO.....none are.....but its pretty damn close....did I get everthing right??? NO.....god knows how HARD it is to restore a car like this.... I just felt in the buick world where you see SO many 70 Xs and 70 stage1 rags that it would REFRESHING to see a granmas car to excite you guys and gals ......no I didnt put the woodgrain back on the dash ?? i thought it looked cleaner, more no frills and I didnt do this and that.....no one has all the answers......continued>>>>>>>>

I've gotten nothing but EXTREME heat from alot of people.....your crazy your on drugs ECT ECT ECT...everybody who said something negative to me was returned with a smile.....when I found this car I was EXCITED and was gonna just flip it to the next guy...BUT after reseaching and DIGGING I was able to find the ONLY 2 owners and have conversations with them...meeting the original owner was very moving for me 40 years later!!! what a class guy!!!! he told me things you just cant make up!!! I never wanted to go ALL the way with this car BUT felt compelled to do so.....and here we are me trying to give someone who knows how hard it is to restore a buick the right way an oppertunity to have a car of this caliber buy just writing a check !!! I've seen both nationals concourse classes this year....seen whats out there... I think my car is a nice CHANGE and makes other buick people smile thats all...never wanted to ruffle anyones feathers... when people see a big asking price they do anything they can to knock a person down... me I'm different I say WOW GOOD LUCK NICE RIDE... i am proud to be a part of V8 buick.coms family GREGG DAVIDIAN
