I need to know the u joint center to center length of a 71-72 GS455 driveline upon inspection my 71 has an 8.2 rear with a th350 trans and the driveline appears short.. my center to center length is 55 1/8
Bob, If you need a longer shaft, I am sure I have one. You should have about 1" of the yoke sticking out of the trans with the suspension at rest.
As far as I know all 71 gs 455's came with the 8.5 corporate rear. If you have other some one changed. I have an original factory driveshaft from my 71 Stage-1 in my shed. I can measure it for you if you want. Let me Know
By the way if you have a turbo 350 I think the driveshaft needs to be longer as it should be set up for t-400
I keep finding more stuff! page 4-6.1 of the gs assembly manual lists all driveshaft lengths for different trans. the coupes are all in the 54.24" to 55.144 range
