The 7 blade 18” fan is not correct for a 71-72 455 car. The correct fan for a 71-72 455 car is 5 blades and 20” like the one in the pics below.
I removed the 7-blade from an original 72 Suncoupe 350 and I have another that I removed from a 71-- both factory AC. My red 1971 Skylark had 24k miles when I acquired it-- still has Freon 12 in the system --and it also has the 7-blade.
Ok-- thanks. I imagine this is technically correct for 350 motors only, however it would bolt up and fit on big-block cars
It will fit,but if cooling is marginal,it will get worse,as there's too much space within the shroud to work really good.Bruno.
Well said Bruno. The fan shroud opening in a 71-72 was enlarged on 455 cars, so a larger fan was used to draw more air across the radiator. From what I have learned, the 18” fan is correct for A/C and/or HD cooling in 1970 350 and 455 cars as well as 71-72 350.
