What is the correct color for the edge of the tail light lenses for 71/72. I have seen some that are red, some black and some silver. I think the silver is correct color like the one below from a 72. Can someone confirm that? Thanks, Robert
mine are silver w/the raised portions of the red plastic outlined in silver the same as the background.Kenny
For 1972 Skylarks, Skylark 350's, and GS's the lenses should be all red. AFAIK, only Skylark Custom's had the raised portions of the lenses outlined in silver.
Dean, I noticed your thread on switching to led taillights. It's been five or six years since you installed them. How are they holding up? Robert
Lol. They're holding up great.... but....I've probably only put about 100 miles (yes 100!) on the thing in all that time and it's still not finished. It's going to a good friend's shop sometime in the next month (I hope) and he's gonna do all the things I can never seem to have time to do. We'll see.
I hear you. Mine was going to be down for a couple months at most and here I am almost a year later. At this point I will consider myself lucky to have it back on the road by fall.
My '72 GS Fremont build has black edges. I do not believe that they were repainted. I do have an extra set of '72 tail lights that are silver trimmed.
I thought Skylark Customs had silver and all the others were black. Of course there could be OEM variations - they weren't stopping the line if they didn't have the correct ones on hand and/or differt plants did it differently (or Bob drank too much the night before & put a wrong set on).
