Hey folks, does any one remember a recent magazine article featuring a 71' Challenger R/T and it's original owner? I do not remember which magazine this was in, but it has only been within the last 2-3 months that it was printed. MoparMuscle, MCE, HMM, POP ROD? The car did not have the big R/T graphics down the side, but rather the 70 style, badges on the fenders. I'm finishing the exterior of my car before I go to York, and I'm thinking I want to do mine that way too. Like a teenager, I only want this magazine for the pictures.......
The May 2007 Muscle Car Review had an article on a black 1970 Challenger R/T 440 6-pack that had been traded in to a Dodge dealer as a used car in December 2004 and was a mostly original, with blemishes, 34,6XX-mile car. Is that the one? Bob Palma of Team Studebaker
Bob, it was definitely a 1971 car. The thing that stood out to me was the absence of those huge front to rear "R/T" side stripes. Looks like I'm developing a case "oldtimers" disease. I sure would like to find that article.
Steve I looked at the last few of the mags you mentioned and can't seem to find that car.I have a few others to dig up and flip through. If I find it I'll let you know.
You're thinking of the Tawny Gold car. It's a Hemi car without the stripes. There's some debate whether the stripeless cars got the badge on the side. Some cars have 'em, some don't. Some cars are restored incorrectly with both. Go to moparts.com and post there and you'll find the guy.
Thanks Diego, that one rings a bell. That car supposedly left the factory that way if I recall. Chrysler back then reminds me of the construction business; any supplier, any subcontractor, just so long as the budget and delivery date were met.
i believe there was an orange one owner 71 Challenger 340 R/Twith no stripes that was at the hemming's musclepalooza.
