I am looking for a 71 floor shift tilt column. My listing sugests that it is : Group 6.518 #7812206 and is 455 engine specific but it also suggests that the floor shift from the donor car could be auto or manual. I am unclear about whether a 72 may also serve as a donor. It appears that 70 cars have different part numbers.
70-2 all share the same column. You can get a floor shift tilt from: Chevelle, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Skylark, LeMans, Cutlass. There is no difference among them.
George, If you are talking about floor shift columns, then the 69-72's are all the same for Buicks, but Jim is looking for a Column shift tilt column and they are different. The column shift lever ends for the 71-72's are different where they stick into the column. So if Jim needs one for a 71 car then only 71-72's will work. Just trying to save him a little grief later. Guys for the info. Do you believe that 70-72 manual or automatic floor shift and 350 or 455 Buick tilt columns are all the same? I have no idea but just know they have different parts numbers assigned. George do you know if the Chevelle columns are being reproed?
I have seen the A-body columns listed in several catalogs but I think they are rebuilt units. I don't know if you are really in "need" of one but the guy out of Ft Wayne IN, "gm*tilt" on Ebay seems to have them listed all the time but prices go sky high, $300-500. I would suggest visiting www.classicalpontiac.com I think someone is parting out a 69-72 GP with tilt, floor shift. I will see if I can find it for you.

Differences... '69-72 Buick & Olds A-body tilts have the fishmouth in the lower bowl to clear the dash bezel. Pontiac & Chevy units do not... Most e-Bay sellers do not know the difference '69 Cutlass/442 F/S tilt was also a 1 year deal. Have wholesaled Saginaw tilt parts columns for last 15 years. Nice tilts, I've always set aside & retailed. At warehouse, I have at least one nice black floorshift tilt for a '69-72 Skylark.
