Don't know who that is, but he bought the car from somewhere out east.

Nope. There's just no good drag strips left around here, so there's no use for a pure drag car. He'd rather have the money for fixing up a '54 F-100 that's been in his family since new, and the Buick go to someone who can make use of it.

I am pretty sure that car used to belong to Andy Livermore. He used to run it at Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD. It was running low elevens and some high 10s but that was about 10 years ago. He also drove it to Bowling Green in the early and mid 90's.

Mike you know I looked at it and that is the first thing I thought too. Then I saw it was out west, but if it was bought from the east I would say your correct on that.

What ever happened to Andy. Back in the late 80's he was always a blast when we were all at BG staying at the Holidome. Ill have to dig thru my old photos I am sure I have a shot of his car on the track.

So someone should buy it and carry on the legend!

Believe me, I considered it, but like I said there's no use for a purpose built drag car in this area. I've only met the current owner once, but he's a friend of a very dear friend of mine, so if anyone wants any more info or pics, let me know.

Just wondering when or if the engine has been freshened up or gone through. Is the cage certified currently or has it been in the past or does that not have to be done? Never had a car fast enough to worry about it. I assume there is a title to the car. Brad.

Don't know about the cage, but I think he said the belts are at least five years past certification. I will pass the rest of the questions on and let you know what I hear back.

As far as the cage and belts. My opinion is if you buy a drag car you have to go though it anyway. If the new owner is going to run 10's then the setup seems ok. Anything faster you need a certified cage. This car to the best of my knowledge never went into the 9's. As far as the belts. Summit sells them they are fairly cheap, that would not sway me on a good deal for a well priced track car that can easily be converted back to street duty too.

Anyway I did some digging and located 2 shots taken I would say back around 1988 at the GS Nationals with Andy Livermore at the wheel and it was street legal back then.

Excellent work on the pics! Believe me, if there was an actual drag strip near by, I'd be all over this car. Just not much point in it since Scribner closed (and is in the process of being torn up right now to boot :ball: )

Anyway, the seller told me he had seen videos of the car racing at Englishtown before he bought it, so the cage had to be at least good enough for the 10.7 it ran there. He has not gone through the engine since purchasing it, I heard it run and it at least sounds solid and healthy. The car has pretty much sat since he bought it, again because of Scribner closing. The car does have a clean and clear title.

Yup, that is/was Andy's car! I forwarded to him maybe he'll buy it back......

I bet that's the same motor in it. Was a nice tight motor.....had too much oil pressure! Would float the valves (pump up the hyd lifters) unless he ran 10/30 oil.
Car has lots of potential. Wiring was a rats nest and alot of the car was held together with zip ties for which Andy was famous for. Andy put a cage in it for good reason......

Used to belong to Neil Janashek who had it painted and put the GSX stuff on.

Cool pics. I know nobody can read them but me, but that's my signs on his doors back when I took a run at selling Buick parts. Andy had a little bit of a sponsorship from me. It's funny how a car for sale thread turns into memories!

    Hey Guys,

That was my car! I got out of drag racing in '99 when I took on the boating hobby. I could only do one, so I focused my time an energy into boating. Not a day goes by that I don't miss ripping down the drag strip in that ol' Buick but not a day goes by where I don't look forward to going out on the water either. I may show up at the drag strip soon as a spectator. I hear they are opening 75-80 in Maryland back up. Could be a nice way to spend the afternoon. Right now Im consumed with work and am the President of the Chesapeake Bay Powerboat Assoc. cbpba . com

Maybe I can break free from that boat club and hit a Buick event this year.

Keep me informed on the schedule of events. :beers2:
