71 GS grille, what areas are supposed to be black?

My grill has been void of any black paint for a long time! So it's on the "list".

What areas should be black and what color black? Gloss, semi-gloss, matte??

    Thanks!

A pic is worth a 1000 words they say, this a repro grille review on my website but the picture will certainly help you out.

Satin silver, matte black, and semi gloss gray seems correct, can't be 100% certain as have only seen NOS grilles new and of course all the originals have faded away. I'm sure others will have ideas.

Some factory pics might help you out as well. These are GM ads showing the cars new.

Thanks Tim. I took mine out today and it was in more pieces than I thought. TPP grille might be the solution. A sale would be nice!!!

They usually have one around thanksgiving if you can wait that long, keep the orig though.

BTW, only 377 71 GS cars were platinum mist....

Painting a 71 Grille is a monumental task. I have done it twice....Buy the new one.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for the sale. By then it will make a nice Christmas present!

Do they advertise it on their website. I'd hate to wait and miss it!!

Put yourself on the mailing list. There has been lots of politics and what not over the years but they do have a lot of good parts, never hurts to keep on top of that stuff.

Here is the one from the Part's Place on my car. The original had a bunch of repairs so I sold it and bought this one last year. Ron
