Here is what I believe is a 70 Am/FM B body Buick radio. (The other one that I have to sell is from a 70 Riviera): The green in the middle of the picture is a reflection of my green shirt.
04BFP1 translates to : 0 = 1970 , 4 = BUICK , B = Full size car , FP = AM-FM Mono . So its a 1970 full size Buick AM-FM Mono Radio .
Not correct . See the breakdown above . Your confusing Body codes such as " B , C and E " with the Radio code . Fullsize is ALL LeSabre Wildcat Electra Estate Wagon and Riviera . FP is one code that means AM-FM Mono Radio . Pushbutton does not get described in the # This is from the Delco Radio Site
http://www.wonderbarman.com/codes.html Here's the correct info from the site I was referring to : This guy knows his stuff . This is important info to keep .
Excellent, sir! This is your $25 radio? (Sorry for the non-response; have been on vacay for the past week and away from my computer. Ironically enough, spending part of it working on said Buick. )
Rp455 may be right. I've been asking around and doing some research and found this: https://sites.google.com/site/identifyingcarradios/home/radios-1/buick-1 The '70 radio seems to have a slimmer profile than the '71, and there's what looks like a heat sink hanging off the side of the '70 that the '71 does not have. I know that Buick redesigned some but not all its lines in '70, so I'm guessing some of the components - like radios - were likewise redesigned to go in them, slight as they would have been? The wonderbarman site breaks down the codes, but doesn't indicate interchangeability.
70 radio will not fit in 71 and up car . 69 will fit 70 . 71 and up is its own. Wait : Let me rephrase that : The 70 radio will not fit the 71 dash WITHOUT MODIFICATIONS
