I looked at a blue over blue 350-2 air, auto, 71 sportwagon today. I maybe able to get it on the cheaps. Owner claims it has a thrown rod. Minimal rust ,second owner car looks garage kept for quite a while. Drivers door dented in good, but probably repairable. I see no rust near the wheel well , lower fenders or quarters. The only rust I do see is between the rear window and the crome wing like luggage rack and it had a cheesy patch job where a cb was removed. Its sitting on matching blue rims with a set of Buick dog dishs. The paintwhich I think is original doesn't even look oxidized.
I would like to clone it into a GS driver with a GS hood ,trim and maybe a sporty 350-4. What do you think I'm looking at on top of the selling price.
It doesn't look like it needs any body work beside the drivers door. I would get it powered first and then work from there.

I know you guys can't give me a real figure without seeing the car , because who knows what else it needs. The owner who is an old timer told me it ran and rode fine until he threw the rod(his diagnosis).

Any surprise area to check on these cars

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

If he'll let you, pull the side rear cover panels - this lets you look at the inside of the wheelhouses and gas tank area.

Also look inside the storage area ... and along all the rear glass mating points.

....other than that its just your basic A-Body ... stretched a bit and with a few extra doors
