This is the third or fourth time the car has been listed, I think the bidding got to $8,400 or $8,600 last time. I don't think anybody will bid this time, and you could probably email him after its over and offer him $7,700 - $8k and he would probably take it!

So this car HAS been on e-bay before...:Dou:

Do you think this is top money for this car? :beer

If you do an ebay search by user and put it his ID (include all items) you will see the history. He has had his reserve pretty high, and keeps lowering it.

    First time, $7,272, no bidders.
    Second time $8,450, 3 bidders over $6k, 2 over $8,300
Third time $7,550, 4 bidders over $7k, none the same as last time
    Now - $8,300, no bidders.

So it looks like the high bidders the second time are no longer interested, since the didn't bid the third time, or they fiugred the reserver was too high to waste their time. I think he had it at $9k+.

It seems that this the asking price is top dollar for this particular, as opposed to a starting point. But who knows, the guys from the second auction could be waiting to bid. Of course, if the owner was willing to take $8,300, you would figure he would have already emailed them and offered it to them.

There is a blue 350 car on right now at $7k, no bidders, bad pictures, it will probably have to be re-listed. You could email him for some better pics and maybe get a deal if it is nice....

If the car looks as good as the pictures it is a deal;you can't buy a lesser car and build it for what he is asking!!

    72 GS

It looks like the yellow car is in better condition than the blue one, but you never know. If the blue on is worth 7K?? then you would think that the yellow one would be worth 8K. I just thought that the yellow car looked really nice in the photos, and was close to me also. But I know that the smallblock cars just don't bring the money the bigblock cars do. Even so you couldn't build that car for 8K.:TU:

    David,

I agree, the yellow one looks really nice, and is probably worth $8k. No way you could do one for that price, and it sounds like all it needs to be finished is carpet and the seat re-done (and a smaller air filter:) ). That being said, I still think it could be had for less than $8,300....

OK I think I will wait and see what he says after the auction....if it's still there!!

  9. It LOOKS like it is well worth the opening bid. I don't think it is overpriced. If you want that car, and can afford it, I say buy it. If it is that close to you, go see it in person! If you really wanted a 455 car, it is a pretty easy swap in the 70-72 cars.

If you are buying it to OWN it and drive it, the price seems pretty fair, judging by the pics only. Most of us here do not buy our Buicks as an investment, but if you are taking the resale value into consideration, you would be better off with an original 455 car.

And the price is a steal compared to starting with a project car and getting it in that shape. Of course, only a live, in person viewing will tell you for sure what you are getting into.

Before I purchased my GS I was watching that auction very closely. I think for the condition and how well it has been maintained its well worth the opening bid. As long as you like the color and the options and your heart is saying yeah... don't second guess. We all know these cars aren't going down in price. Oh, and the only reason I didn't buy it was rarity of my GS.

Well I talked to "David" for about 45 min yesterday before the close of the auction and I believe that the car IS in that good of shape, However the paint is 20 year old single stage enamel, and the front seat needs to be recovered, but the rest of the car is in near mint condition if you can believe his discrepition. He also has a 70 GS 455 that has a rebuilt Non-matching 455 and turbo 400 with a posi rear and buckets that he wants to get rid of for $1000.00 bucks. But the grille is gone and he said the car had rusty floors and trunk, sounds like parts. He also said that he had a "dealer" comming by on Wednesday with the "cash" $8300.00 ???? Then why would he re-list it ??? I think he NEEDS to sell. But someone willing to wait him out might get a good deal. :TU: :TU: I think that the color and options are holding the car back.:Do No:

    Re: 72 GS 350

    David,

I would agree with you on that. I like the exterior color (but not everyone does), but I am not the fond of the brown bench seat. Here is a 70 350 car with the same color combo, went to about $12k+ when it was on ebay. It is probably as nice of a GS 350 as you can find, less than 60k miles and an ex-magazine car.

    Here .

If the dealer wanted it for $8,300, you are right, he already would have bought it! He may be coming with cash, but it will be less than $8k. If this guy has tried 4 times to get $8k+ for it, why would a dealer pay that, knowing he is going to mark it up and try to sell it again?

    Yes,

But more of a "bookmark" than anything. I can only track 30 items, so I bid on other ones I like. Don't get me wrong, I would be happy to buy if for that amount, but that ain't gonna happen! If he was willing to sell it for that, I would be more than willing to buy it. I would buy a 71 or 72 for the right price, but I really want a 70, and would probably even pay the "wrong" price for the right one!

Feel free to bid on top of me if you are interested. When I find one I really want, I will be sure to let everyone on the board know, and mark my territory.
